Is it just me…

or has what I’ve seen as the window of opportunity for anyone hoping to get a head start to beating the Mayor just closed? With the feds shutting down the endless train horns has the chance for someone… anyone… to climb aboard the train of city discontent and riding it all the way to an easy victory just left the station? (Sigh) I hope not. Well, I’m sure Mayor Larry will somehow manage to tick off most of the voters out there in time for another target… I mean new mayor to take his place, I was just hoping someone would take advantage of what I saw as a great opportunity. Will voters remember this fiasco? Mmm, I don’t know… Remember, Mayor Larry comes from the political school of, well, school. He’s run the city like the public education dept. You know …"don’t ask don’t tell", …"if we ignore it, it will go away", …"if things are messed up, don’t fix it, just change the way it’s graded" … "we know what’s best for you"… Soooo, who’s up for the task, eh?

So just build the dang thing already…

Go ahead, just build the dang ball field already. Now, I may not understand all the arguments against it, all I know is it would be a cool place to go once in awhile. No, I don’t plan on taking any dang shuttle buses, or parking ten miles down the road and walking to the field, I plan on being able to park within sight of the place, buying some popcorn, and watching some ball.

Any reason why it can’t be a multipurpose sort of "stadium"? Hay, maybe we could bring in KISS!!!

Parking issues? Hmm, I’m sure there are plenty of "friendly neighbors" who would be more than willing to offer up some nice parking space for oh, I don’t know, a "five spot"? I mean, I don’t hear much fuss over parking for River fest/Fiesta/Harley fest…

So as far as I’m concerned, just build the dang thing. Parking will take care of itself for this thing, I mean we’re not expecting Miller park type of crowds are we?

Black hole dispatch…

Due to technical difficulties (like choosing the ability to eat/drive to work over the ability to go online) posting will be scarce… like, whenever I’m able to get to the library or I’m able to find a free wi-fi spot round town.

Not to worry, now that I’m (pretty sure I’ll be) working steady, this sinking ship will float again! …yah, the economy sure is strong huh? (yah, strong like a skunk…)

Who could use $100 in free gas?!?!?!?!

The Blood Center is giving away $100 in free gas!!! Check it out!

Mayor Nelson… Puttin on the dog, yo!

Yesterday while speaking at the Almont Gallery, Mayor nelson proved that yes, he does indeed own a sport coat, loudly proclaiming

“check it dog, respect the silk!”

… the rest went unheard as the 11:05 passed by…

Waukesha’s Evangelical & Reformed UCC church bell… cool pic…

Was God saying something or does this always happen when you take pictures of bells?  (me, I think he was saying something)

Smog n Blog… I was a “no show”… sheesh

Sorry bout that.  Hope it was good.

(Sigh…) Does summer really have to end?

Jump jump…

Chronicles of an idiot, blog addition…

concerning comments/spam/links.
For some reason Mr James is unable to comment/trace a link to Off main, I think the same holds true for Hobo. His links tie to the posts, but the links don’t show up as “comments” on the post. I find the link in the “dashboard, incoming link” section, it just doesn’t show up as a link on the actual post.  For my part, links are way cool, and I’d like be able to show them off.  James’s are the only ones I’ve noticed so far that don’t show up.  Any clues?

Smog n Blog… and dis da time! (finally huh?)

Okay, we finally have a time to go with the place and day.  (That being the Nice Ash at 327 west Main st. tomorrow the 29th)

…and the time is 8pm!  Same “rules” apply, come one come all, you blog come grog… um, and smog, if you can find it on a map, you can come.  See ya!

Update - apparently there’s a “Nice Ash” contest going on from 8 to 10, “see if you can smoke the cigar of your choice to achieve the longest ash.  Prizes include a box of cigars, a dart board, and a Nice Ash gift certificate.”

Nighty night dear Mayor Nelson… nighty night…

Now, I’m not sure who’s really responsible, but you’ve got to admit, da mayor (rightly or wrongly) makes an easy target for the blame.  In my mind, whether or not he is at fault, he hasn’t shown much leadership on this issue.  Granted, it’s not a big deal when compared to property taxes, water quality, whatever, but right now this is the “big issue” with the general “uninformed” public.  Hmm, when is Nelson up for reelection?  Anyone out there with big enough shoulders to take responsibility for what goes down in this town?  Hmm.

(and yah, I know I know, I’m weeks late on this one… whatever)

(Oh, and the vids off u-tube… dude, I’m tryin to sleep come sundown, I ain’t gots time to be running tape…gnight y’all)

Great night with Americans for Prosperity…

(Oops, forgot to add this pic with the others)

Okay, I know Mark Block didn’t set this thing up all by his lonesome, but since I have no idea who actually did all the footwork, I’ll give a hearty “THANKS MARK” (and by “Mark” I mean everyone at Americans for Prosperity ) for a great time!

Americans For Prosperity… living the High Life… oh yah!

Dang right I got my free Miller lunch cooler!  From the man himself yo!

Great seats, great game, good friends… too bad our section never heard of “the wave” before though :)

Or you can call me Alex…

I’ve gone through a few blogs, 3 or 4 versions of La Raza de Waukesha, 2 versions of Hobo Springs, and now off Main.  I’ve called myself Sancho for most of it, and have decided to call myself by the name Mommy gave me, Alexander.  I’m a carpenter/superintendent/foremen/garbage hauler… depending on who I work for.  (I’m currently back with VJS - formally Voss Jorgenson Schuller).  I was born and raised in Waukesha (Hadfield, Horning (7th), Central, North) I spent 4 years in the Corps.  I am married to a wonderful lady (whom I call Lady) whos WAY more into politics than I am and we have more than 1.5 kids… okay, WAY more than 1.5.  I am not a member of any political party (I trust my gut more than I trust the money brokers to tell me who to vote for), I am conservative, I have the coolest avatar in the world yo!

And this is me.

You can call me Alex, hi.

Ruth Page Jones… a contender?

Here’s her home page…. (what the heck, it doesn’t hurt to be informed, right?)

Working for Waukesha – Working for You

Ruth Page Jones Picture

I’m Ruth Page Jones and I’m running for the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 97th District, representing most of the city of Waukesha and four wards in the town of Waukesha.

I’ve entered this race to bring a higher level of energy and skill to the State Assembly and to work on those issues that matter most to the people in this district.

Political bickering and partisan politics are not serving the interests of our children, our seniors and our working families. We deserve representation that will fervently advocate for the things we value and work for solutions that improve our quality of life, ensure equal opportunity for all, and protect our safety and essential freedoms.

I am excited about the opportunity to demonstrate how my high level of energy and ‘can do’ attitude make me the best choice to work successfully in Madison. I share your concerns about the issues we discuss daily at our kitchen tables – good jobs, excellent schools, quality and affordable health care, clean air and water, safe roads, and fair taxes.

For many years I have worked alongside others in this community to make it a great place to live, work and raise a family. I ask for your vote to elect me your next State Assembly representative so that I can continue working for Waukesha – working for you.

Smog n Blog… and dis da day!

Next Tuesday the 29th, 8 pm!

My “comment” to bnn… lets see if it makes it…

Here’s my comment I left at the site, I got the link from Fairly Conservative… I wonder if it will get past “moderation”…

My comment pre modoration

-”The issue” started when BNN named a left-leaning blogger to be the local editor” - Umm, “the issue” started (for me) when Fairly Conservatives’ request for removal (due to offensive adds) from BNN was originally granted (by Mr. Liebenthal) but than denied by Mr. Mastio. I (sort of) understand “feeds” n all, but if someone wants out, they should be able to opt out.
- “Accuracy and reliability is at the heart of what we offer” - are you now guaranteeing the accuracy of all posts? What you “offer” is a “big feed”, a few hits, and that’s about it. What you “take” in return is coin from adds, is this the real reason for not removing bloggers from bnn when they request it? Later!

Update - the comment made it…

Smog n blog… Dis da place!

Oops! Forgot to mention that this is this months Blog n Grog! (thanks Steveegg)

eventually I’ll figure out the day (next Tuesday or Wed)…

the Clarke…

When does this project need to be done?

The exterior ain’t as bad as it looks,

bout 10 days work and it could be done…

the crazy part is the innards,

this is the newly (last Friday) poured basement floor.  (they had a few plywood panels open).  They should be done with the concrete now, give em 3 days to frame the deck (1st floor), than 3 to 5 days to frame all partitions.  than the mechanicals (including kitchen equipment, and that depends heavily on delivery) then drywall, finishes etc… from this pic, I’d say bout 5 weeks before food starts pouring out on the restaurant part.  The “rooms” (second floor) have their new windows, and most walls looked framed in… bout 4 weeks out.  Of course everything (and I mean everything) depends on deliveries. This is where you need a good superintendent, they need to call/contact/harass/bug/beg/plead/pry hard delivery dates for ALL materials, and wrap their schedule around these dates accordingly.  It ain’t easy, but it is fun!  Good luck people…

I have to add- if this where my project, I’d automatically add 2 weeks to the overall schedule, for late deliveries, unforeseen conditions (asbestos, structural failings, crazy building codes), and I would push for weekend work until the end.

Blog News Network… the new Crack dealer…

I/we have been a part of one of the newest forms of crack dealing, “splog“. (Not really sure what “splog” means, but it does sound cool don’t it?)
Here’s my take.
We (bloggers) are now players (whether we realize it or not) in an online burlesque show, and we ain’t getting paid. We’ve been lured on stage with the candy called “hits”, and what little we get we eagerly gobble up, yum yum, gimmi more! Meanwhile BNN has opened the gates, is taking tickets (paid adds), and has locked the back door so’s we cant get out, no matter how much we dislike the patrons (adds).

I know, I know, “we signed up for it”, but shouldn’t we be allowed to “sign out of it” if we so choose?  Hmm, I guess we could just stop blogging, or start another blog, I’m sure there’s something we could do as far as “copywriting” all posts and demanding that we either get our share of the coin or we get let off the stage.  Hmm.  Sure is a pickle.

Me, I don’t care what BNN does with my stuff, I throw it out there for my own therapy, and if anyone chooses to enjoy it great.  Thing is, if someone wants out, they need to be let out.  As soon as the “club owners” bar the exits it becomes a hostage situation and than as far as I’m concerned, IT’S ON!!!

Now I understand, I’ll have little effect on what happens, but that don’t mean I ain’t fightin… I’m in!

Smog n Grog…

Will be at the Nice Ash at 327 W. Main st (Waukesha of course), just west of where the Gazebo was, and across the street from the soon(er or later) to be opened Clarke Hotel. (I’ll get back to you on what day…Tuesday or Wednesday for sure… sorry)

(Blog n Grogs’l be bouncing around Main st from now on, stay tuned)

Help!

This rocks!

Chronicles of an idiot… a fathers edition…

Here’s what happens when you don’t really listen to what your sweetheart is asking for…

You find yourself “chaperoning” said sweetheart and friends to the Rave to catch “Bullet for my Valentine” (Yup, that’s the name of the band…)
Oh well, at least I remembered to grab a set of earplugs from work…

Update -

“mosh pit” - yawn

“”body surfing” - blazay

“head banging” - snore

Wall of Death” … what the heck?

Moon stations?

If/when Obama announces an American moon station mission, how will it be recieved?  Me? I’d love it! Kiddn me?  I don’t care if it is a little too Kennedyish, it would rock!

Kramer/Schmuki…

Okay, I thought I’d wait until someone else said their part on the upcoming assembly race (97th). I cant waits no more…

My take on the race…. Kramer is gonna kick Schmukis’ a##… big time. The one and only reason? Money money money money…. money.

Okay, most of you have an opinion one way or another on both their politics/issues/stances/whatever’s. As far as I’m concerned, it (the victory) is all about the money. Kramers got the reps backing him up. Big dollar reps. I’m not sure is Schmukis’ going to have the same amount of backing.

Personality wise, I can’t say never having met Schmuki. I don’t know who wins that round.

Politics wise, I’m 90% sure Kramer gets my vote as far as that’s concerned. I will say that if Schmuki would have kept his mouth shut on this whole govt. financed healthcare junk he would have given Kramer more of a run for his money last time.

Is Kramer unbeatable? Nope, he lost once before, and he can always lose again.

Here’s a word for Schmuki… “change your mind” on govt health care, get out and meet the people, go hard core public access/public meet-n-greets, control the talking points, and you’ll give yourself a fighting chance.

A word for Kramer… ease up on the whole “of course I’m going to win” attitude (in public), DO NOT underestimate your opponent, and don’t blow off Schmukis’ points, address them as valid and give your “better way” solutions. Waukesha ain’t the republican juggernaut it once was.

Schmukis’ weakness, “big govt.” “big spending” issues. Figure out a way around Kramers attacks before he attacks.

Kramers weakness, pride. Belittling your opponents excites some, turns off more.

Again, Kramers going to wipe the floor with Schmuki unless Schmuki finds a way to get some green. Both sides (if they want to make a race of this one) need to spend spend spend. If the reps lose Waukesha, think of the message that will send the rest of the state.  And yes, Kramer is very beatable…

It cost cash to control the cash… it’s all about the green…

Patriotism…

Oh Pheisty one nails it as far as McCain/politics and “patriotism”.
…a few excerpts if you please…

- America’s patriotism is unique because it is based upon the freedom of the individual, and the inherent rights of human beings. Patriotism itself is not an admirable quality unless it is based upon individual rights.
- Without McCain’s honorable service in the United States Military, he would have no proof that he actually cares about individual freedom.
- A true American patriot holds freedom at the heart of their love of their country
- Let’s stop the flag-waving for five minutes and on this Independence Day weekend and reflect on what that flag represents.

“Republicans for Obama”… (funny)…

Saw a “Republicans for Obama” bumper sticker today, funny.  Wasn’t the one on this post, I couldn’t find the actual sticker.

Hmm, is it really possible for a republican to actively support Obama, and still call themselves republican?  I suppose so, I mean, what does it take to be “a republican”?  What, 25 bucks?  So lets say you send the check, than get yourself some Obama posters/shirts/stickers and call a press conference.  You’d probably have your “15 minutes of fame” right there.  Whudja think, 25 bucks, a few phone calls, and bam, you get your 15 minutes, sounds easy huh?  I mean, why not… we already know the outcome of this election, may as well have some fun while we watch the show…

…and no, this aint somethin I’d do, I don’t have the energy…

A word from the 80s…

Talking with a couple of carpenters that where around for the 80s, they say the current situation looks like the start of the 80s as far as construction. That ain’t good.

  • very little houses being built
  • side jobs (roofing siding ect) is being taken up by anyone that can almost swing a hammer. Lots of undercutting.
  • price of roofing shingles is going up 25% within the year.
  • the amount of hours worked overall for the last year is down 20% (average)
  • it only looks like there’s alot of work, the amount of work actually being done is down
  • lots of gov. contracts being pushed back until the next paying period (this has been going on for the last 4 or 5 periods). The prices keep changing from contract issue dates to actual pricing dates, materials are going up faster than the gov. can follow.

Hmm, tell me, who’s going to win the election, the candidate that "feels our pain", or the candidate that tells us to quit our whining and toughen up? When your broke, being told to "toughen up" doesn’t come across too good. It’s a perception thang. I’m just sayin…

“The economies fine”… Really?

Overheard a local/regional politician recently. (Something like)”everyone’s working, the economies fine…” Really? I’m number 400 on the layoff list for carpenters local 400 (almost funny) (oops, I mean local 344.)  and I’m “one of the lucky ones”. I’ve been living on sub 40 hour weeks for the past 6 months and I’m “one of the lucky ones”. I call around the local mega construction companies about work and find that I’m “one the lucky ones”. Guys I work with call the Hall to complain about working conditions/job threats and they are told to be glad their working, their “one of the lucky ones”. Hmm, the economies fine… really? Okay, I guess your right, you’re still getting plenty of ice in your drinks, Toppers still delivers, theirs no chance of you getting laid off from the assembly… Hmm, I guess the economy is fine…
